Work at Home - The dream of many, achieved by few.

Data entry typist

This article is part of a series that is supposed to give you a better understanding of this topic.

Frequent other terms that define the chore of a data entry typist include word processor, transcriber, data worker and so on. Good training and even experience are necessary for a position related to a company’s data entry department. Thus, a data entry typist will naturally have to type very well: from seventy words per minute upwards. Depending on the standards you judge things by, speed of work is relevant in the context of processing huge amounts of data in a limited time interval. Who can apply for a task as a data entry typist?

Lots of businesses prefer high school graduates owing to the larger exposure of the younger generations to computer applications. Moreover, the constant use of electronic devices increases the speed of usage and the efficiency of the activities. Nevertheless, there is no age or education limitation for a data entry typist as long as he/she has the right skills. Presently, there are all sorts of smart computer programs that help one increase the typing speed by teaching one how to use all the fingers in the keyboard use. A data entry typist is not supposed to type with just two or three fingers only, because this would speak of a slow work process and would not allow the person to qualify for the job in the first place.

Therefore, do evaluate your computer skills very well before applying for a home freelancing career that involves proficient data entry. With these considerations in mind concerning the attributes of a data entry typist, you should analyze very carefully the data entry program ads that claim no experience or special skill is required. Maybe fast computer typing is not such a special skill, but it definitely makes an essential one when talking about efficient rapid data entry.

All in all, a data entry typist will normally be asked to give a test for the evaluation of the skills before being hired. Even if the work activity is conducted from home exclusively and you think that you have all the time in the world to dedicate to a certain typing project, always keep in mind the fact that there is still a deadline to be respected. There could also be other terms and conditions imposed by the company that hires your freelancing services, and they too have to be taken into consideration. Hence, don’t take any work element lightly or you may have to pay the price for overlooking it.

How not to make money being online.

How not to make money being online.

Watch out for the latest craze that will flood your email inbox if you are a website owner!

Here is an example of what hit my inbox yesterday…

Hi,

We’ve seen your website at http://www.theworkathomeplace.com/
and we love it!

We see that your traffic rank is 799180
and your link popularity is 34.
Also, you have been online since 2/20/2006.

With that kind of traffic, we will pay you up to $4,800/month
to advertise our links on your website.

If you’re interested, read our terms from this page. http://www.contactthem.ws (sorry you will have to copy and paste this, it does not deserve a link)

——————————————–

Sounds interesting don’t it?

I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on those links and put then on my web page. After all it did not cost me any money, and look at the income that I would get.

Further checking I found the only thing they were selling was a software package that finds websites like mine and yours if you own one and sends out the nice letters above.

This is the latest craze in spamming websites to place links on our webpage. Others who do not own websites can join for around $49.95/ month to get software to spam more sites and so on and so on. Your cut would be around 20% for putting the links on your site

Finding this out I quickly removed the ads that look a little like Google ads from my website. I HATE SPAM and was almost conned into helping promote it.

If you haven’t got an email from them and you own a website it wont be long before you get them. I had 3 more today.

If you are starting a home based business there are many other ways to make money being online than falling for a spamming software package and loosing your reputation.
